IV. UBCDC Partner Search
It’s been brought to our attention that some of you are looking for PARTNERS for upcoming competitions or just for practice – and you’re not sure where to look!
In that case, let us introduce a UBC Dance Club Partner Search!
We will be hosting a partner search this coming WEDNESDAY DECEMBER 1 at 8:30PM in the SUB PARTY ROOM!
With each partner you will have about 1-2 minutes for talking, and then 1-2 minutes for dancing. If you and a partner both decide you like each other, you will be given each other’s emails for further contact. And don’t worry – what you think of each partner will be anonymous and the execs will organise everything at the end of the session based on your “score card.”
Just think of it as a spin-off of SPEED DATING! This event won’t take long and will be tons of fun, so dont be shy, and come out!
Hope to see you all there!

V. New Website and Newsletter System
Over the summer, UBCDC’s website received a complete overhaul. It has received an elegant new design as well as a brand new newsletter system. The new website should be able to provide more information and consistent updates on club activities, so be sure to bookmark it at www.ubcdanceclub.com!
Many of you have noticed that over the summer, UBCDC’s newsletters came to an abrupt end. The new newsletter system deleted our old member list, so you have to resubscribe to our newsletter. Please do that as soon as possible and inform all your friends and fellow club members!

IV. Team Match
Team Match is the biggest, baddest, and most rowdy of all our dance events.
It is a definite favourite of many of our members, and it involves things
like: musical performances, parodies, dance routines, and pure CRAZINESS. It
involves two parts:
1) Mini Dance Competition
You get to show off your ballroom dancing skills that you picked up from
class in this total-casual and one hundred percent just-for-fun competition.
It’s a wonderful opportunity as a mini dance competition. Your teachers will
be your judges and you’ll compete against fellow members who dance at the
same level.
2) Team Skit
You will also be placed on a team. Your team will work together to create a
dance skit and perform it for everyone on the day of team match. Ideas
include: Re-imagining Mario, Matrix Ballroom, Napoleon Dynamite, Grease
Lightning, and UBC Glee Club. It can be funny, dramatic, a blend of both, or
anything you want! Your team will try your best to impress the judges and
win great prizes! Invite your friends and family to watch!
Best of all, this event is FREE! Search “UBC Dance Club Team Match” on
Youtube for past skits and a good laugh.
Teams have now been arranged. You can still register by e-mailing
soco@ubcdanceclub.com. But since Team Match is this weekend, you better get on it fast! If you have registered already but have no idea which team you’re on, e-mail soco@ubcdanceclub.com.
Team Match Final Schedule
Unfortunately, the schedule has not been finalized yet. I will send out an e-mail detailing the events of the day and the times of occurrence as soon as it is finished. Thanks for your patience!
