Dear Members,
We hope you all had a lot of fun at Dance Convention!
Please remember that Bronze B (Thursday) has been cancelled.
We are also starting a Salsa Intermediate class for those of you who completed beginner last semester. It runs on Wednesdays from 9-10PM. The cost is $40 for AMS members and $70 for non-AMS members.
Additionally, please note that NEWCOMER A, NEWCOMER B, NEWCOMER C, and ADVANCED are NOT RUNNING this week. We apologize for the late notice and any inconvenience, but we do not have bookings for the ballroom Monday and Tuesday this week. Classes will resume the week after, check the class schedule for specific dates.

I. Registration
UBC Dance Club is now accepting term two registrations for those of you who still want to take part in our dance classes but could not in the first term. We are charging 75% of the original fee for term two classes. Just find our prices on the website and then take 25% off for your class.
In order to register, please get to the dance class of your choice ten minutes before it starts. Executives should be there to help you register. Alternatively, you may come to our office hours from 12-2PM on any weekday. Our office is situated in the Student Union Building, on the second floor in room 241J.

III. Salsa Intermediate
To those of you who enrolled in Salsa Beginner classes last term, please remember that this term, we are offering a Salsa Intermediate class.
The class runs on Wednesdays from 9-10PM in Room 207/209. The cost is $40 for AMS members and $70 for non-AMS members.
The first class was last week but it’s not too late to register! Apparently there was a mix-up in advertising — the class is definitely at UBC and not SFU. Register and bring your friends!
IV. New Website and Newsletter System
Over summer 2010, UBCDC’s website received a complete overhaul. It has received an elegant new design as well as a brand new newsletter system. The new website should be able to provide more information and consistent updates on club activities, so be sure to bookmark it atwww.ubcdanceclub.com!
Many of you have noticed that over the summer, UBCDC’s newsletters came to an abrupt end. The new newsletter system deleted our old member list, so you have to resubscribe to our newsletter. Please do that as soon as possible and inform all your friends and fellow club members!

Clear your calendars for Saturday, January 22nd because we will have our Dance Convention and Mini-Comp: a full day of dance and competition workshops followed by a small club-closed competition! The event will begin in late morning/early afternoon and a general dance party will follow in the evening, all in the SUB Ballroom. The event costs $5 for members and $10 for non-members.
Itinerary:
1-2PM Partner Search
2-3PM Viennese Waltz workshop with Zillion Wong
3-4PM Intro West Coast Swing workshop with Myles Munroe & Tessa Cunningham, national swing dance champions
4-5PM Pizza break/practice time
5-6PM Hair, makeup, and syllabus costuming with Monica and Emily
6-7PM “The 3 C’s of competition” – Competition workshop with Joel Marasigan
7-8PM “How to your hips like Kyryl” – Latin technique workshop by Kyryl Dudchenko
8-9:15PM Club Closed Mini-Competition (only open to current members of a UBCDC class)
9:15-11:00PM Monthly Dance
Doors open at 10AM and the SUB Partyroom is available for practice all day!
