II. Pin Tests

Now that classes have ended, members should take the UBC Dance Club pin test. Pin tests are conducted to ensure that members have acquired the necessary skills to progress to the next level in UBC Dance Club.

III. Annual General Meeting and Dance

Following the UBC Gala Ball, Dance Club hosts its Annual General Meeting. In this meeting, we will be opening up all executive positions and any current club member may run for a position! If you want to get to know how the exec runs Dance Club every year and become a part of that force behind the club, please attend the AGM and run for a position!

Here is a list of all the positions that will be opening up:

President (1 year experience required)
Internal Vice President (1 year experience required)

Gala Chair (1 year experience required)
Treasurer (1 year experience required)

Sign-up sheets are posted outside our office (SUB second floor, room 241J).

Please prepare a 2-minute speech to just tell us a little about yourself! If you’re not running for the executive and you happen to be a dance club member, please attend the AGM to vote for your fellow DCers who are running. Since AGM lasts quite a while, we’ll be providing you with snacks and refreshments.

Join us afterwards for an evening dance.

IV. New Website and Newsletter System

Over summer 2010, UBCDC’s website received a complete overhaul. It has received an elegant new design as well as a brand new newsletter system. The new website should be able to provide more information and consistent updates on club activities, so be sure to bookmark it atwww.ubcdanceclub.com!

Many of you have noticed that over the summer, UBCDC’s newsletters came to an abrupt end. The new newsletter system deleted our old member list, so you have to resubscribe to our newsletter. Please do that as soon as possible and inform all your friends and fellow club members!

II. The 49th UBC Gala Ball

Featuring everything from Club Closed Newcomer events, Salsa, to the awe inspiring BC Open Latin and Standard Amateur Championships and Showcase of Champions, no matter what your age and dancing level, this event is for you. The UBC Gala Ball is a world-class event at affordable prices for our many Dance Club members and students, as well as for the general public. Join us on Friday, March 11th and Saturday, March 12th, 2011, for two days of great dancing, fantastic shows, and fun friendly competition! This year’s UBC Gala Ball will be held at the Grand Ballroom at 12200 Riverside Way, Richmond, BC V6Y 1K5.
