Hello,
It was great seeing everyone at Clubs Days in the past week. The execs noticed that a lot of you had similar questions regarding the purpose of dance club and how the whole thing works. Here are the answers to some of the most common questions.
Q: What does dance club do?
A: UBC Dance Club provides ballroom and salsa classes to UBC students and members of the community.
Q: I can’t dance/I have no dance experience/I don’t have a dance partner, can I still join?
A: Yes!!
Q: How much does it cost to join? What does my money go towards?
A: If you sign up for classes, you are automatically a member of the UBC Dance Club and your fees go towards paying our teachers as well as organizing our monthly dance events.
Click here for the class schedule and here for class fees.
Q: If I sign up, can I switch between classes?
A: Yes, but if spaces fill up for the class that you are dropping into, then people who have registered in that section have priority.
Q: What happens if I miss a class?
A: Feel free to come to another class of the same level (if you are a newcomer), priority for spaces will however be for those who have registered in that section. Otherwise, our team of execs will be happy to help you catch up on the material that you missed.
Q: I’ve had previous dance experience in ballroom/ballet/Jazz, etc, which level should I be in?
A: It might be a good idea to audition for Bronze, details regarding auditions are on the left column of this email.
Q: Being an exec seems so fun, how do I become one?
A:Sign up to run for the position of Newcomer Rep at the upcoming AGM! (More details will be available shortly)
Warm regards,
