I hope everyone had a great time at yesterday’s Halloween Dance. For those of you who were not at the AGM, we elected two Newcomer Reps for the 2011-2012 school year. The Newcomer Reps are Holly Zhou and Curtis Li! Congratulations!

The next big UBCDC event coming up is Team Match! Be sure to come cheer on all the teams on November 26th! Admission is free for everyone on that day (including those who are not in Dance Club).

Team Match

Get ready for one of the craziest and fun events of the year! Team Match is a contest where you and your fellow dance club members will put together a dance-skit and peform it front of our teachers and of course, a very excited audience. Simply sign up outside the UBCDC office and we will put you in a group. Each group will have at least one exec to help coordinate practice times.

If you’re a fan of America’s Best Dance Crew, you’ll have a blast at Team Match!

Hello,

The Halloween Dance and AGM are coming up on Saturday so be sure to mark your calendars for an exciting Saturday! Don’t forget to wear your costume to particpate in our costume contest. There will also be refreshments as well as plenty of fun games.

You can still sign up for Team Match outside the Dance Club office door. There is a correction to last week’s newsletter, the correct link to last year’s winning skit is here.

Annual General Meeting

Want to be a part of the purple jacket crew? Sign up to run as one of the two Newcomer Reps at our Annual General Meeting. As Newcomer Rep, you’ll only be directly responsible for one Newcomer class. You’ll also need to network with the other Newcomer classes to voice all the needs of the Newcomers to the rest exec team! No previous experience on an exec team is necessary! Sign up outside the UBCDC Office door and prepare a 2 minute speech to tell us why you would like to join our team!

All UBC Dance Club members are invited to attend the AGM and vote for our Newcomer rep candidates, make your voice heard and help us make this an awesome dance-filled year!

The UBCDC Execs are planning a lot of big events to help ease you through midterm season and the beginning of winter in general. In addition to the Halloween Dance and the AGM, we are pleased to announce that Team Match will be held on November 26th! Perform a dance skit in front of a loud and cheering audience! We are still accepting registration! Simply arrive five minutes early to the class that you wish to join with your payment.

Hello,

I hope everyone is having a great long weekend. Just a quick reminder that Newcomer A will be cancelled this week due to Thanksgiving. There will be a class added at the end of the school year so that there will still be 16 classes in the session.

Free classes for Newcomer D and Salsa will also take place this week, be sure to check the schedule on the left and bring your friends! Registration for all classes is still on going, so bring your payment in cash or cheque to one of our classes.

Finally, if you want to be more involved in the club, be sure to come to our AGM on Saturday October 29th! The execs are currently looking for two Newcomer Reps to join our team. Our annual Halloween Dance will also be held afterwards, see below for more details.

March 2012 is the 50th anniverary of the UBC Gala Ball. This important milestone is an opportunity to share the history of UBC Dance Club with the rest of the dance community. If you are an alumnus/alumna and have photos or videos of your Gala Ball experiences throughout the years, please email them to gala_chair@ubcdanceclub.com.

A big thank you to everyone who attended the Pants off/Dance off Welcome Back Dance! It was great seeing everyone there enjoying the fun ice breaker games, free lessons, and social dancing.

All classes on Monday and Tuesdays begin this week. Please check the schedule to your left to see when your class begins. The first class in all of the Newcomer sections is free for everyone so be sure to bring your friends. We are accepting registration, so be sure to bring your cash or cheque to one of the free classes, or reply to this newsletter if you would like to set up a time to pay at the dance club office.
